Transformation – Ice Formation

It finally happened – snow fell overnight at Lac Bernard and it was so beautiful to wake up December 27th at my son’s cottage and view the trees through the window all laden with snow. I can’t describe how I feel when I see this beauty. All the others in the cottage were sleeping so Kody and I tiptoed out to experience this winter wonderland. It is always a wonder to me to see nature transform a scene overnight – in this instance from flat clear open water the night before to the creation of ice cover by morning, all in such a few short hours – and to see the beauty of the patterns created as the ice begins to form. The monochromatic scene conveyed such peace. One of my biggest challenges is contending with the cold temperatures – if it weren’t for that I’d simply sit, sip coffee and soak it all in. So for me taking photos help to remember this experience.

Along with some photos of this scene, is a photo of the peaceful open water of Christmas morning to contrast to this  transformed shoreline.
