Yesterday on my walk into Pink Lake I encountered this pair of Mallards lazily feeding along the shoreline of a marsh which was still lined with remnants of ice.  I was surprised by how totally unperturbed they were by our arrival: normally Kody’s presence, even when on a leash, causes a fair bit of fluttering and quacking responses.  But this pair just carried on feeding.  This gave me time to sit on a rock and totally loose myself in the beautiful peaceful sounds of the swamps. Kody followed suit and calmly lay down at my feet.  So there we all were, enjoying a peaceful spring-like state on a glorious afternoon.  I loved the contrast of the vivid green of the male mallard against the dull early spring colours of the marsh.
