This week I kayaked on Meech Lake. It was a beautifully warm sunny day with a clear blue sky and a gentle wind. It lent itself to some lazy paddling exploring the shoreline of the northern end of the lake. Even when moving lazily along I felt a bit like someone learning to drive a car with manual gears – managing dog, kayak, and camera all at the same time.
The lake was covered with the yellow dust from the tall pine trees and in some places I could see clouds of this dust blowing like clouds of smoke from a fire. If you look closely you can see this dust on the water. Here are a few views from the water level that give a sense of the varied beauty of that part of the lake. It’s quite distinct from the more southern part that visitors see from the road.
