I was driving up the Gatineau Parkway on my way for a hike when I decided to stop for a few minutes to check out Pink Lake from its lookout. Indeed, the water colour is becoming a beautiful turquoise colour due to the growth of the algae in the warmer waters at this time of year. This is such a beautiful lake and we’re so fortunate to have its unique ecosystem protected. When I was in high school there was a lot of activity here: we hiked all around the lake and dove off the cliffs attracted by the clear deep water unknowingly compromising the quality of the lake by eroding the cliffs. These sorts of activities are now prohibited in order to protect the unique ecosystem of this lake so we can all continue to enjoy its beauty.
