Sitting on the shore of George Lake in Killarney Provincial Park watching the sunset was an exceptionally and unexpected joyful experience. There is something about being in the wilderness that draws us to observe nature’s rhythms. Something powerful that calls us to participate. And so it was as we observed a couple of women excitedly plunge in and embrace the lake itself as they swam off into the distance at dusk. And so it was also for the little three-year-old boy playing in the sand on the beach watching his mummy as she enjoyed her swim in the distance. As she turned around to return he couldn’t contain himself: he wanted to join her. Even though she kept telling him to stay on shore he giggled as he ran with abandon into the water fully clothed and capably swam out to meet her. He, giggling in the dusk and she, laughingly admonishing him by calling him a little monkey. Joy was dancing in the waters of gorgeous George Lake.
