I realized today how much I love observing the emergence of spring – the wildflowers popping out, the display of Trilliums, the influx of birds, beavers reconstructing their engineering feats, and, the changing water levels. Normally I go hiking often at this time of year specifically to connect to these rhythms, so it was natural that today when I was strolling with a friend along Chelsea Creek that my curiosity drew me to check out the flow and character of the creek since I was there 2 weeks ago.
Here is a photo from today to compare with the photo below that I took of this same spot 2 weeks ago. I love the character of each of them albeit they are different.
I will be out of the country for almost 3 weeks hiking, firstly in Dorset England followed by hiking Hadrian’s Wall. While I’m looking forward to each of these spectacular outdoor experiences I realized today how much I’m going to miss feeling connected to the special way that spring emerges this year in the Gatineau Park.
