Fortune Lake

I went on an early morning stroll into Fortune Lake this week before going for my swim at Meech Lake, simply because it was just too cold at that hour for swimming!  I love the changing character of this lake and at this time of year it feels so serene.  Nothing at all happening when I was there, not even a duck or a goose.  But the growth on the lake definitely spoke of summer.

Sitting there sipping my tea and just taking it all in felt very grounding and did indeed help calm my busy mind, as this week I’m preoccupied with packing for a canoe camping trip to the islands in Georgian Bay south of Killarney, where the character will be very different – wind swept bare rocky islands and constant winds.  It was good to take an interlude on the shores of Fortune Lake.
