Another morning leaving home in the dark, this time to search out vantage points to capture the magnificence of the Eardley Escarpment. It became painfully apparent to me why I’ve been disappointed of late with the impact of my photos and why they fall short of powerfully capturing the mood of a scene: I was prepared to undermine my goals by trying to take photos of the escarpment from the road. No risk, but no real payoff.
Today I did it differently – I was encouraged to go tromping through all the fields to get ‘up close and personal’ with the escarpment and I was so satisfied with the results. Getting wet feet in the process was well worth the effort. I love the close up photo so much more than the wide angle one.
