Just before descending the downhill stretch at the Wolf Trail Lookout on Ridge Road we paused for water. We were surprised how quickly we’d skied from McKinstry Lodge so paused to take in all the beauty. A little later when we arrived at Trail 24 we also paused to take it all in with Jean Francois saying, “Our trip back is just going too fast”. As we descended #40, one of our favourite downhill runs, we again paused taking in the late afternoon shadows on the snow. We were savouring. Savouring our spring ski experience. Savouring the texture of the snow, the amazing snow conditions for skiing on this April day, the warmth of the sun on our faces, the burbling sounds of the creeks and, the smell of bogs newly emerging out from their snow cover into the warm sun. Our ski season was coming to and end and we were celebrating. Savouring and celebrating made for one of the best ski outings I’ve had all winter.
Savouring
