I missed out skiing Burma Trail (Trail #3) this past winter. Its a delightful trail winding around and up and down with ascents and descents in either direction. Friday afternoon was so gorgeous I set out to explore it at this time of year. I hiked from Etienne Brule lookout, where #3 begins, to the Ramparts Lookout. Its simply a beautiful trail. What I especially loved were all the swamps along the way, stunning with such variation in plant growth and greenery, and, even purple irises. No wildlife to be seen (likely because of the hot afternoon sun), but we were accompanied by mosquitoes so I got to break in my new bug jacket. Good new, it works wonderfully. And, the air was clear enough to have a good view at the look out.
