The Meeting of the Seasons

by Margaret on April 13, 2019

I didn’t expect Meech Creek Valley to be completely covered in snow.  It’s April 13th, isn’t it?  I thought I’d be able to walk the length of Cross Loop Rd.  I also thought Trail 50 would be bare and ready for hiking because of being in direct sun.  But no, the snow cover this year is so deep spring’s arrival is delayed!

I love the shoulder season and how it’s not possible to predict how winter will depart.  I love savouring what is departing as well as embracing what is coming as I stand in the warmth of the spring sun with the warm wind on my cheeks, no hat on my head and no mitts on my hands, surrounded by deep snow cover and yet the creeks are starting to fill with spring melt water carving  their paths through the snow.  I love experiencing the meeting of the seasons.
