It’s been a while since I’ve been out with my camera and tripod. I’ve been feeling sorry for myself this summer with a new complaint in my body holding me back from the long hikes that I love so much. So, my photos have been more in the – ‘this is where I’ve been’ category. Nice to have for the record, but not as satisfying as taking the time to intentionally sink into what my surroundings are saying to me. So I was just delighted when my photographer friend asked me to join him for a sunrise photo shoot at Pinhey Point, even if it did mean getting up at 3:30am.
There was such a broad expanse to gaze at as we walked along the rocky shale beach to the actual point. An expanse of sky above and river below with the narrow band of land, including the Gatineau Hills escarpment, beautifully silhouetted in between. I felt held by all of my surroundings. The dawning of a new day came ever so gently with the early pinks and soft purples, followed later by the deep oranges and reds. It was breathtaking to be there, participating in nature’s rhythm. It made me feel so alive. Such a wonderful grounding way to start the day. (Click on the photos to enlarge).
