The Evening Spectacle

by Margaret on August 29, 2019

It was when I arrived back at the car from walking Callum along Chelsea Creek that I noticed the colours in the sky.  I’m not used to our evenings coming to a close so early so hadn’t thought about doing sunset photos this evening.  Off I went to O’Brian Beach on Meech Lake, the best sunset view nearby, and managed to catch the last of the evening’s sunset colours. There’s something hypnotic about the enormity of the sky.  I felt drawn to stay to the end.  And as I was sitting there, I became aware of what appeared to be an evening ritual for the others on the beach – the ritual of watching the evening spectacle.  The others were also hanging around to experience the fullness of it all and then one by one we slowly pulled ourselves away and walked slowly in the dark back to our cars
