I feel such relief now that the heat has finally broken. It smothered me and discouraged any enthusiasm for any real hiking, and sadly, photo taking. I was in survival mode – walking only in the very early morning and to spots where there was some water for Callum to drink and to cool off.
This morning was such a delight to feel the freshness in the air and the energy and inspiration to set out to one of my favourite places – Brown Lake. On the way, we climbed up to the lookout over Carman Lake which was exhilarating to climb without hot muggy weather and to be rewarded with the expansive view of the forest as it spread out before my eyes. The impact of yesterday’s storm was evident along the way – wash outs along the trail and on higher levels the exposed rock faces were washed clean of the normal pine needles and moss. I felt such aliveness to be out in the Park on this day.
Here are a few photos – The first is of Carman Lake, the next of Brown Lake and, the last one showing the lowland and outflow between the two lakes.
