In Beauty I Walk

by Margaret on October 14, 2020

Today as I hiked to the lookout at Carman Lake, I was reminded of my chanting evenings  with Barclay McMillan at St. Luke’s church, walking around the sanctuary chanting over and over, In Beauty I Walk. Walking through ‘The Notch’ felt like a cathedral with a golden ceiling.  The view from the lookout was breathtaking and it surprised me:  I expected, more golden and yellow colours and the  water in Carman Lake was green. No matter how many times I come here there are surprise as well as something to take my breath away.

Here are some photos with one panoramic photo showing the colours of both Carman and Brown Lakes.

Here is the chant, taken from a Navajo prayer.

In beauty I walk
With beauty before me I walk
With beauty behind me I walk
With beauty above me I walk
With beauty around me I walk
It has become beauty again
