I’m having a hard time finding replacement hikes since I can’t cross the river into Quebec and hike in the Gatineau Park. I remind myself though, if this is my only complaint during this worrisome Covid time I can count myself privileged. So, heads up, this is not a posting about Gatineau Park, but the photos are lovely.
Yesterday I visited Morris Island Conservation area on the Ottawa River not far from Galleta, about halfway between Arnprior and Kinburn. I felt so at home scurrying along rocky, rough, narrow, winding trails, passing by swamps with ducks and Canada Geese. These swamps were like candy for the eyes with such a mixed wetland growth. The bird life here must be thriving as the canopy was in song accompanying me along the way. It was a glorious outing filling my soul with what I’ve missed these past few weeks.
Here are a few photos of the beauty of this place. Click on the photos to enlarge them.
