I haven’t been to Fortune Lake since just before Easter and “The Lockdown” so wanted to check it out, especially after the recent rains. I found myself walking along the trail at the same time as those heading to the biathlon practice field. This happens often – I think I’m early but I’m not ahead of the serious folks. They carried what sort of looked like tennis rackets on their backs, which was interesting as I’ve never been there during practice time.
I wasn’t disappointed – the water was high with a great outflow thanks to the recent rains. The trees were a rich green, water lilies were plentiful and there was little sign of gypsy moth caterpillar damage that I hear attacked the trees near the Eardley Escarpment. So glad I went early (for me) and was able to get back here in time for church. What a great way to start the day!
Some views of lovely peaceful Fortune Lake along with a photo of my last visit just before Easter.
